The Line the story behind the painting

“The Line” – The Story Of An Abstract Watercolor Painting

A painting doesn’t just sit on a wall. A painting can dictate the energy of the room, inspire, and encourage dialog. This is what I want to bring to you and your life.

The Story Behind The Painting

This painting – The Line – is about a couple of things. First, on a lighter note it’s about designs of the time. Trends and styles that are hip right now. I do love trends. I can’t help but paint the colors of the period in my home, and in my paintings.

For me, it’s fun to follow and explore different inclines.

What’s In Style

Lines and graphics tend to be in fashion right now – and I love that! This painting started with line work created by one of my favorite resist materials. I love how it repels, but also the awesome texture it creates. Don’t you love that, too?

Choosing colors can be trendy for me, put also, I gravitate to the colors I love. Bright bold pinks together with almost any other color is a favorite. This painting incorporates a couple of different greens to create a vibrant energizing piece!

What’s Important

This painting is also about something I hold dear to my soul. It is a commentary on the line in life. My line, your line, our line as a society. At what point does someone or some idea cross that line? Do you know where your line is?

Many countries in the world right now are being pushed to ask just this question. And, then challenged to fight for this line. To struggle with the question of where the line is, to dispute it, to discuss it in company that also has a line.

A Difficult Time, But Also Plucky

It is a difficult time in many people’s lives right now. But, for many the tough time of contending with their line fills their days and their lives. I think knowing your line, your deal breaker, and your worth is vital. Don’t let anyone tell you you don’t matter, or imply that your view point isn’t important.

In our time, many of us have have been losing what we find valuable and our line has been crossed repeatedly. It has brought out a new perception for many people and certainly courageousness and dedication we didn’t know we had.

The bad has once again brought us together and hopefully changed us for the better. And, helped many of us understand we have a line and it should not be crossed again.

The Line – Abstract Watercolor Painting

This piece The Line reflects on these thoughts. The painting creates a bridge to have this dialog and move past “isn’t that pretty, I love those colors” and discuss the topics of our time. The painting’s message works to connect people, people in our lives, and open a path for deeper conversations – some that have been swept under the rug too long.

I hope my work makes you happy, inspires you, and even motivates you to pause and think. I do enjoy a good reflection and speculation. I’d love to hear what you think as well.
